North Platte : Nebraska

North Platte is a city in Lincoln County and located at the point where the South Platte River and the North Platte River join to form the Platte River. It is located near the geographical center of Union Pacific’s massive east-to-west network. It is home to Bailey Yard, a massive collection of tracks and trains at the heart of the railroad’s modern operations.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covera a total area of 27.4 km² (10.6 mi²) of which 27.1 km² (10.5 mi²) comprises of land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (1.04%) is water.

North Platte enjoys a semi-arid climate with an annual precipitation of 19.66 inches. Winters are generally cold with very little precipitation and summers are warm with some rain.
